Description
The Tarzan Spectacular Concept/Pitch Art by Dan Goozee for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, c. 1990s). This original concept/pitch artwork by Dan Goozee was created for Landmark Entertainment Group's ambitious Las Vegas proposal, The Tarzan Spectacular. Rendered in gouache on 25" x 15" illustration board, the piece dramatically presents the proposed theatre entrance for the large-scale production. Developed in the late 1990s, the project was envisioned as a big-budget, arena-style spectacular combining stunts, acrobatics, special effects, and live music to tell Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic Tarzan story. Unlike Cirque du Soleil's abstract shows, Landmark's concept aimed for a more narrative-driven experience, blending immersive environments, aerial performers, and multimedia projections into a cohesive, theatrical spectacle. The proposal emerged at a time when Las Vegas was embracing family-oriented entertainment such as Mystère at Treasure Island and EFX at the MGM Grand, and shortly before Disney's 1999 animated Tarzan film reignited public interest in the character. Though pitched to major Strip operators, the project never advanced beyond the concept stage. Dan Goozee (1943-2024) was famed for his cinematic artwork, including posters for Superman: The Movie and several James Bond films, and his themed entertainment concepts for Disney and beyond.
