Description

The Jungle Book Rare Shere Khan Early Character Development Drawing (Walt Disney, 1967). "It's me, Shere Khan. I'd like a word with you, if you don't mind." It's Shere Khan's time to shine! Included in this lot is a striking early character development drawing of the ruler of the Seoni jungle, famously voiced by George Sanders, rendered in artist marker and ink on 8.5'' x 6'' paper. The villain was primarily animated by Milt Kahl and story artists on the film included Larry Clemmons, Ralph Wright, Ken Anderson, and Vance Gerry. These artists developed Shere Khan as a confident, elegant, and proud predator with personality based on Sanders' own. The character development drawing in this lot is all of that and more as it explores the Benghal tiger's stance and personality while he carefully inspects something in the distance, poised and ready to strike if needed. We have seen very few Shere Khan drawings, much less early drawings like this, so if you've been looking to add the tiger to your collection now is the time before he slinks back into the jungle. Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, faint toning, and a perforated edge.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
