Description

The Jungle Book Mowgli and Baloo 17" x 10.5" Original Concept Painting Attributed to Art Riley and Al Dempster (Walt Disney, 1967). "Look for the bare necessities, the simple bare necessities. Forget about your worries and your strife (yeah man!)" Baloo and Mowgli drift lazily down river in this extraordinary concept painting from Disney's The Jungle Book. It's one of the most recognizable scenes in the film and exemplifies the the lush jungle setting in this classic Disney film. It also highlights the level of artistry associated with a Disney film in the days of Walt. Attributed to the team of Art Riley (background artist) and Al Dempster (background stylist) this is a brilliantly rendered piece in gouache and ink on 17" x 10.5" Crescent Board. It is in a 22" x 15" mat with a 16" x 9" opening. This is arguably the key scene in the film that perfectly captures the look and tone of the movie as well as the message behind the Sherman brothers song "The Bare Necessities". It is also certain to capture the attention of Jungle Book fans. The one-of-a-kind painting exhibits handling, edge wear and tape residue. The lower border under the mat shows that tape was removed taking with it a bit of paint, but it does not effect the image. Condition is Very Good.
