The Jungle Book Concept Painting by Art Riley (Walt Disney, 1967). Art Riley (1911-1998) was a background artist for Walt Disney Studios for over 30 years, working on almost all the great animated feature films. He also did a great deal of work for Disneyland Design. In addition to his studio work, he was a member of both the California Watercolor Society and the American Watercolor Society. His non-studio work was displayed at many art galleries. This is a rare pre-production style/concept painting of Mowgli and Bagheera in the forest. It's painted in gouache on lightweight 3-peghole background board, taking up the entire 16" x 12.5" image area. This is one of the most beautiful concept pieces we have come across for this film. A clear sheet of acetate is over the artwork. Minor handling wear, and pinholes in the corners. Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Archives.
