The Island at the Top of the World Original Concept Art by Peter Ellenshaw (Walt Disney, 1974). An extraordinary piece of original concept art for the Walt Disney motion picture, The Island at the Top of the World. The art was created by Disney Legend Inductee, Peter Ellenshaw (1913 – 2007). With over 50 films to his credit, Ellenshaw is most known for his matte paintings and production design on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and Mary Poppins (1964), for which he won an Academy Award. Concept art is developed through several iterations. Multiple solutions are explored before settling on the final design. This piece shows Ellenshaw's concept for the interior of the Temple of the Elders. The artwork was painted on board of approximately 20" x 12" and signed by the artist in the upper left area. The artwork is framed to 23" x 15". Frame sold as-is. Concept art from a major Hollywood studio is arguable rare and a piece from the hand of a legendary filmmaker is even more RARE! Artwork condition is Very Good.
