The Iron Giant Concept Art Group of 2 (Warner Brothers, 1999). This film premiered at Mann's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles on July 31, 1999 to widespread critical acclaim. Directed by animation legend Brad Bird, it was one of the last animated films of the hand-drawn era. This is a rare concept print/painting by Vic Haboush (1924 - 2009). Mr Haboush began his career at Disney Studios in the 1950s painting backgrounds for Lady and the Tramp. He ultimately became one of the character stylists tasked with bringing Disney characters and styles into the modern age jet-age of the late '50s. This is a striking pair of concept pieces showcasing the aerial chase between the Iron Giant and the air force and ominous looming clouds. The artwork is composed of black line prints of the artists original sketches on 11.5" x 15" paper. The prints have been painted over with gouache to test a variety of color stylings. These hand-embellished studies from this popular film by an animation pioneer are simply incredible. Minor handling and edge wear; otherwise, condition is Very Good. From the Vic Haboush Archives.
