The Fox Hunt Concept/Story Drawing (Walt Disney, 1938). "A hunting we will go! A hunting we will go!" sings Donald Duck in the opening scene of this cartoon which also stared Goofy. It's original working title was Master of the 'Ounds and features rare cameos by Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Horace Horsecollar, and even Clara Cluck. Early development on this short was done by Ferdinand Horvath. (1881 - 1977) who worked at the studio for four years and was a major influence on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. His work is outlined in great detail in Didier Ghez's book They Drew as They Pleased - The Hidden Art of Disney's Golden Age (the 1930s). This is an original piece of story/concept art by Ferdinand Horvath and depicts a proposed opening scene. In the finished production, the tavern is seen from an aerial view. It's rendered in graphite and pastel on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper mounted to a board of 10" x 14" board. A Horvath signature is trimmed off on bottom left, but you still can see the end of it. The piece is also signed by longtime Disney story man, Homer Brightman (1901 - 1988). One of the most detailed pieces we have seen from the hand of Horvath. Light creases in mounted artwork with minor handling and edge wear. Condition is Very Good.
