DescriptionThe Flintstones "Surfin' Fred" Layout Drawings Original Art Group of 5 by Richard Bickenbach (Hanna-Barbera, 1965). The Flintstones and Rubbles head to the beach on vacation, where Fred crashes the Spring Break kid's group as "Troy," the "overage idol of the stone board set." Here's a group of original 12 field layout drawings from the Season 5, Episode 26 "Surfin' Fred," which first aired on 3/12/65. The first drawing is of Fred as Troy, with his shaggy ho-daddy hair, as he learns to balance himself on the board. Figure size is 3.75". In the next drawing, Wilma is seen relaxing on the beach, but with obvious disdain at Fred's antics; her full-figure image measures 3.5" from foot to head; silhouettes of Barney and Betty are standing nearby. The third drawing has both Betty and Wilma on the beach as they sat under an umbrella; figures sizes are 3.5" each. The fourth and fifth drawings are connected close-ups of Betty and Wilma, with Wilma in the first one, figure size of 7", while Betty is seen in blue pencil silhouette with penciled lips; the second in this pair has Betty's close-up, with a figure size of 6.5", and a partial image of Wilma. All are in graphite with red penciled boxes highlighting the scene's image. Overall condition is Very Good with minor handling wear.
