The Black Cauldron King Eidilleg Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1985). "Oh, h-hello! I'm King Eidilleg of the Fairfolk." This fantastic 3-drawing pencil test features the tiny king in an early character design. An exciting look into the making-of process of Disney's lesser-known cult favorite, these concept drawings are an exceptional find. The production process of The Black Cauldron was notoriously wrought with hiccups and delays ranging from Disney executives changing hands to animator Don Bluth leaving the company with a dozen other animators to make their own movies. As a result, the company brought Disney legend inductee Milt Kahl out of retirement to consult the young, unseasoned animators on the animation process. These sketches are amazing time capsules for Disney's darker past, and a must-have for any Disney historian. Beautifully rendered in graphite on 16 field 3-peghole animation paper, King Eidilleg measures about 5.5" x 7" on each sheet. The paper shows minor handling and edge wear with the second sheet showing some folding in the upper left corner, and there is light smudging throughout. Overall, the condition is Very Good.
