Description

The Black Cauldron Horned King Character Development Drawing Original Art by Mike Ploog (Walt Disney, 1985). "Soon the Black Cauldron will be mine!" The ruthless and horrific Horned King makes a star appearance in this fantastic lot, featuring the wicked main antagonist from the 1985 Disney animated film The Black Cauldron, created by the famous comic book and storyboard artist Mike Ploog. The notably dark Disney film is based on Lloyd Alexander's The Chronicles of Prydain, and over the years, it has gathered a cult following for its distinctive tone. Rendered in charcoal and pastels, this character development drawing has the Horned King in all its villainous magnificence, done in Ploog's distinguished art style. Mike Ploog apprenticed under Will Eisner and is mainly recognized for his outstanding work for Marvel Comics in the '70s in titles like Ghost Rider, Man-Thing, and Werewolf by Night. The portrait of the film's villain measures an image size of 10.5" x 8.75" and is signed in the bottom right corner by Ploog. The lot is offered on a 20.5" x 17.5" glass-fronted frame with a 12.5" x 9.75" mat opening. All frames are sold as-is. Photos are not representative of actual frame condition. In Very Good condition with minor handling and edge wear from production.
