    Description

Tim Burton The Black Cauldron Gurgi Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1985). One of Tim Burton's first projects after being hired by Walt Disney Studios was to work on concept art and character designs for this animated feature film. Here is an early study of Gurgi, with two views created in a "splatter" effect with ink and watercolor/gouache on paper measuring approximately 15.25" x 10.25". The image sizes are 6.5" x 4" of the "whirlwind" on the left, and 8" x 7" for Gurgi hanging from a tree limb. The paper is mounted to black board measuring 18" x 14". Some paper waviness due to the watercolor, and some minor handling. Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Collection.
