Description

The Black Cauldron Early Character Development Concept Art by Disney Legend Andreas Deja (Walt Disney, 1985). The Black Cauldron was Disney Legend Andreas Deja's first feature film project at Disney after being hired in 1980 and this lot includes one of his original early character development concept drawings for the Horned King's henchmen. Deja had imagined what some of the characters for the film might look like before he was hired and afterwards helped to create the official designs for the project. This artist marker drawing was an idea for what the Horned King's minions could look like, both prepared for battle with weapons and shields. Deja mentions on his website that the concept was one Marc Davis, one of Disney's "Nine Old Men" and a longtime inspiration of Deja's, complimented when checking in with the new crew as they were working on the film. The concept is centered on the page at about 13'' x 10.5'' and is in Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear and pinholes from production use.
From the Disney Legend Inductee Andreas Deja Collection.
