The Black Cauldron Character Development Art by Mike Ploog Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1985). The Horned King's henchmen and the undead Cauldron Born skeleton army are the subjects of these two pages of concept artwork by Mike Ploog. Mr. Ploog, well-known for his work on Marvel Comics titles like Man-Thing, Ghost Rider, and Werewolf by Night, had an earlier film career, working on Ralph Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings, Superman II, Little Shop of Horrors, and many others. The Cauldron Born page has seven scary images drawn in graphite on 16 field 3-peghole animation paper. The superbly detailed Henchmen art is in graphite in 11.25" x 13.5" paper that has been taped to a 16 field sheet of velum paper. This second page is signed "Ploog" in the lower right. Minor handling wear on both, with faint graphite smudging on the Cauldron Born page. Very Good condition.
