The All-New Popeye Hour Background Layout Original Art by Toby Bluth Group of 2 (Hanna-Barbera, 1978). Pair of original hand-drawn background layouts by Fred "Toby" Bluth (1940 - 2013), the talented younger brother of animator/director Don Bluth. These were created for Hanna-Barbera's revival of the Popeye franchise, with one kitchen scene, and one bedroom scene (including a picture of Olive Oyl hanging on the wall). These 12 field drawings spotlight Bluth's use of chiaroscuro, with subtle blends of dark and light. Art is in graphite, one piece with an added red pencil notation. Both pieces are signed. They are somewhat brittle and show considerable edge wear, missing paper, and stains. Fair overall condition.
