Terminator 2: Judgment Day Opening Scene Skynet Robot Concept Illustration Signed by David Russell (Carolco, 1991). "The computer which controlled the machines, Skynet, sent two terminators back through time. Their mission, to destroy the leader of the human resistance, John Connor, my son." Presented is a stellar original concept drawing featuring a Skynet military robot as it battles through ruins, created for the unforgettable opening sequence of James Cameron's blockbuster hit Terminator 2: Judgment Day. An astounding technical achievement, Terminator 2 was the highest-grossing film of 1991 despite its notoriously crunched deadline: principal photography began from October 1990 to March 1991, and the film was released to theaters that July. This original concept drawing is signed by story artist David Russell and dated 1/1991, only six months before the film's release. Fully embracing the film's ambitious undertaking, this drawing captures a dramatic low-angle shot of an elaborate robot design among a setpiece of detailed and textural ruins. It is rendered masterfully in white pastel pencil on black illustration board measuring 17" x 12.75". A protective sheet of acetate overlays the piece. Bearing production/scene notes, the piece shows minor studio handling and edge wear with light smudging near edges, and the condition overall is Very Good.
