Superman Mad Scientist and Lois Lane Layout Drawings Group of 2 (Max Fleischer, 1941). The Man of Steel first burst upon the silver screen in this fantastic cartoon short, first seen in theaters on 9/26/1941. Here are a pair of rare layout, or "rendering" drawings created during the production of this historic Dave Fleischer-directed short. The first shows the Mad Scientist as his pet bird alerts him of a plane landing outside his mountain laboratory hideaway (with Lois Lane aboard); a similar scene in the film can be found at the 4:27 mark. The second drawing is of Lois at the door to the lab; see it at the 5:03 mark. Art from any of the seventeen Fleischer and Famous Studios Superman shorts can be considered very hard to find, and these are great pieces, drawn in graphite on two sheets of 16 field animation paper. They are noted at the top as Sc. 41 and 44. Image sizes are 13.25" x 9.5", matted together and framed with Plexiglas for an overall size of 41.5" x 23.5". The frame is sold as is. Art condition is Very Good, with handling wear and vertical fold creases through each image.
