Description
Superman Explosion of Krypton with Superman's Rocket Ship Layout Drawings Group of 2 (Max Fleischer, 1941). "In the endless reaches of the universe, there once existed a planet known as Krypton, a planet that burned like a green star in the distant heavens" begins the narration to the very first Superman cartoon. The self-titled short, directed by Dave Fleischer and released to theaters on 9/26/1941, is informally known as "The Mad Scientist." The introduction explained how Superman came to Earth as an infant in a rocket ship, sent by his father as the doomed planet exploded. In this extremely rare set of two original animation layout drawings, we see the beam of light emanating from the planet as the rocket blasts off into space, and the start of Krypton's destruction. Wow! These iconic images of Krypton are rendered in graphite on two sheets of 16 field animation paper, noted at the top as Scene 3 #3 and 4. Image sizes are 8" x 6". Both drawings are matted together and framed using Plexiglas for an overall size of 41.5" x 23.5". The frame is sold as is. Art condition is Good, with handling wear, paper toning, and vertical fold creases through each image.Auction Info
