Southbound Duckling Tom and Quacker Layout Drawing (MGM, 1955). "Southern fried duck! Are you going to eat me?" asks Quacker in this scene the 3:50 mark of this short directed by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera. This is an original layout drawing in graphite and colored pencil on 12 field 3-peghole animation paper. This is a fantastic image from the golden age of MGM Studios animation. Layouts for this short were created by Dick Bickenbach, who turned out to be one of the first artists hired at the forming of Hanna-Barbera Studios just two years later. In addition to bringing their layout artist over from MGM, the character Quacker bears a striking resemblance the the Hanna-Barbera's Yacky Doodle. The paper shows minor handling and edge wear; otherwise, condition is Very Good.
