Description

Six Flags St. Louis "The Admiral Showboat" Original 36" x 26" Concept Art by Eddie Martinez for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, 1983). This original piece of concept art by Eddie Martinez was created for Landmark Entertainment Group's design work on The Admiral Showboat, briefly operated by Six Flags in the 1980s. Rendered in gouache on a large 36" x 26" board and signed by the artist, the artwork captures the grandeur of the historic SS Admiral, a beloved St. Louis riverboat reimagined as a floating entertainment venue. The Admiral was not a ride at Six Flags St. Louis but a real excursion steamboat that had operated on the Mississippi River for decades. In 1987, Six Flags repurposed it into a theater-equipped amusement and performance center, moored on the St. Louis riverfront. Landmark Entertainment, renowned for its immersive, theatrical design, developed concepts to highlight its new role as a showplace for dining and live entertainment. Martinez, known for his bold gouache renderings, helped visualize Landmark's ambitious projects with dramatic, cinematic flair. This oversized illustration showcases his ability to capture scale and atmosphere. The piece exhibits edge wear, residue along the lower border, and corner damage (all easily framed over). In Good condition, it is a rare artifact from a unique chapter of Six Flags and Landmark history.
