Robin Hood Original Concept Art Featuring Robin Hood and Maid Marion Attributed to Disney Legend Al Dempster (Walt Disney, 1973). This exquisite piece of original concept art from Walt Disney's 21st animated feature, Robin Hood, offers a glimpse into the creative process behind the beloved film. Illustrated in watercolor on 8" x 11" paper by the film's color stylist Al Dempster, the artwork features the iconic characters Robin Hood and Maid Marian. This scene begins near the 49:10 mark in the final film, where Robin Hood is depicted in his traditional green costume. Concept art, such as this, goes through several iterations, exploring multiple solutions before settling on the final design. It not only aids in developing the project but also serves to demonstrate progress to directors, clients, and investors. Upon completion, concept art may be reworked for advertising materials. Al Dempster (1911-2001) was a distinguished Disney background artist who contributed to numerous features from Fantasia to The Rescuers and illustrated over a dozen Disney Golden Books.
