Retta Scott On the Trail Unproduced Concept Art Group of 5 (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). Retta Scott (1916-1990) was hired to work in the Story Department in 1938 and quickly worked her way up, while working on Bambi. These wonderful watercolor paintings were concept pieces for the never-made features "On The Trail." This project was highlighted on pages 156-157, 172-173, and 175 in the book The Disney That Never Was by Charles Solomon (Hyperion, 1995). The story featured an American Indian boy and his burro who explore the land outside of their pueblo in the Grand Canyon region. Retta Scott traveled to the American Southwest to paint the light and colors of the desert in great detail. These five paintings are on various types of paper media, each affixed to a larger 16 field 5-peghole Bristol board sheet. The painted images are approximately 12" x 10" each on the 15.5" x 12.5" Bristol boards. These are beautiful pieces of art and most have never been seen by the public before! In Fine condition. From the Retta Scott Archives.
