Retta Scott Bambi Concept Art Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1942). Walt Disney began working on Bambi in 1935 after reading the 1929 book by Felix Saltzen. It was one of the longer films in development. Retta Scott was hired on story development in 1938, but moved over to animate Bambi after her story drawings were noticed. She became the first screen credited female Disney Studio animator. This is a series of three Retta Scott original character development sketches. All are done in graphite with blue highlights on 16 field 5-peghole animation paper. First there is a stunning close up of 10", a second sheet is a full-figure character study with facial reference sketches, and the third sheet is a series of thumb nail sketches, or a practice model sheet. All three from the hand of Retta Scott. There is slight tanning, with minor edge wear and handling. Two of them have been folded vertically in the past, otherwise in Fine condition. From the Retta Scott Archives.
