Description

Pip Squeaks RARE Unproduced Project Model Drawing Group of 3 by Carl Barks (1952-53). This lot includes three incredibly rare original model drawings by the Good Duck Artist Carl Barks (1901 - 2000) created for his comic Pip Squeaks. Barks was concerned with the popularity of his Duckburg characters, wondering if they may not endure the test of time, and decided to begin developing his own comic. The series never made it past the development stage, so very little artwork has been found from it! The lot includes three onionskin model drawings of some of the characters, all rendered in graphite. They show the characters at various angles and with different expressions, exploring their design, emotion, and facial features. You can see how some are inspired by Barks' beloved ducks, too! The characters are rendered on onionskin ranging from about 14'' x 11'' to 17'' x 6.75''. There are three poses in full figure and many more amazing explorations, all in Barks' wonderful art style. The lot includes a print from Carl Barks Studio explaining the creation of the series that has been included as reference. Good to Very Good condition with light edge and handling wear, minor edge tears, and faint toning!
