Pinocchio Pinocchio and Cleo Color Key/Concept Background Painting (Walt Disney, 1940). "All strings and joints...cute little fellah" says Jiminy Cricket when he first lays eyes on the little wooden boy in the opening scene of this beloved Disney classic. This original color key/background concept painting of Geppetto's work bench with Pinocchio sitting on top was created based on a layout/concept painting by the legendary artist Gustaf Tenggren. You can see Tenggren' s versions of the painting on pages 55 and 57 in the book Pinocchio by Pierre Lambert. The artwork is believed to be that of Claude Coats, who produced the final backgrounds for this scene. This gouache masterpiece depicts Pinocchio on the far left side of Geppetto's work bench and Cleo in her fish bowl in the foreground . The art is in a frame of 23" x 16" with a mat opening of 14.5" x 7.5". Condition is Very Good and frame is sold as-is.
