Pinocchio Figaro and Cleo Concept Development Art Group of 2 (Walt Disney, 1940). Geppetto's pet cat Figaro and Cleo the Goldfish proved to be so popular in this film that they went on to star in a theatrical short together. Figaro would also star in a few shorts on his own, and Cleo had a close Goldfish relative called Bianca star in two Mickey Mouse shorts as well. This is a pair of rare studio concept/character development paintings in gouache on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper of both Figaro and Cleo. Figaro is a great full figure 6", while the angry-looking Cleo is 2.5". Both are earlier designs created before the final images were chosen. Figaro is marked F3 Figaro in bottom right corner. Very rare Pinocchio development concept art of high quality. Paper is brittle and has minor handling and edge wear and tears. Good condition.
