Pinocchio CD Cover Preliminary Illustration and Concept Art (Walt Disney, c. 1990s).
"Now, remember, Pinocchio, be a good boy. And always let your conscience be your guide." Pinocchio was Walt Disney's second animated feature film, released on February 7, 1940. With the success of Snow White, Walt wanted to do a film that would tell a great moral story while maintaining that now familiar Disney flair for entertainment. In this lot we have an outstanding preliminary drawing of Geppetto, Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio, the puppet that wanted to be a real boy. The artwork was created for a Japanese CD cover. The first piece was rendered using graphite and blue pencil on illustration paper. The artwork measures 16" x 16 with an image of 12" x 12". We also have a concept piece crafted using blue pencil on onionskin paper and signed in the lower left corner "R. Morgan 1.31.00". The image measures 7.5" x 7.5". This piece has some discoloration in the image area. These illustrations are actual working pieces of production art and thus will show normal usage, folds, creases, tape and tape residue, minor handling, and edge wear; otherwise, condition is Good.
