Phantasy: Home of Phantom of the Opera Concept/Pitch Art by Tibor Karsai for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, 1998). This original concept/pitch artwork was created for Landmark Entertainment Group's ambitious mid-1990s proposal, Phantasy: Home of Phantom of the Opera. Rendered in gouache on 29.5" x 20" board by architectural illustrator Tibor Karsai, the piece showcases the proposed venue's dramatic exterior. Karsai, author of The Airbrush in Architectural Illustration (1989), was renowned for his ability to capture architectural scale and presentation detail, qualities clearly demonstrated in this striking rendering. Landmark's Phantasy concept envisioned a Las Vegas mega-resort anchored by Andrew Lloyd Webber's blockbuster Phantom of the Opera. The design combined the grandeur of an opera house with themed casino and retail districts. Guests would enter a soaring atrium beneath a massive chandelier, wander grotto-like promenades along an underground lake, and enjoy gothic-revival façades housing retail, dining, and themed experiences. At its heart, a purpose-built theatre would stage a resident Phantom spectacular with large-scale practical effects-water, fire, projection, aerial stunts, and the iconic collapsing chandelier. The plan extended into themed hotel suites, cabaret lounges, and immersive "backstage" exhibitions, designed to immerse guests in the Phantom IP day and night.
