Paul Bunyan Concept Painting by Eyvind Earle (Walt Disney, 1958). "Hey Paul... Paul Bunyan!" Eyvind Earle was Art Director on this cartoon short, released on 8/1/58. It was directed by Les Clark and received an Academy Award nomination. Thurl Ravenscroft (voice of Tony the Tiger, and singing voice of the Grinch) provided the deep baritone voice of Paul Bunyan. This is a stunning background Color Key/concept painting from the hand of Eyvind Earle (1916-2000). The painting is in gouache on 15" x 12" board, with a protective clear sheet of acetate attached. You can see this style of painting through all of this short's opening credits. The angles and color palette are pure Eyvind Earle. Paintings from his hand, for this short, are very rare. Minor handling wear. Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Archives.
