    On the Trail Hopi-American Concept Art Group of 3 (Walt Disney, 1940s). Outstanding Retta Scott concept gouache paintings of Hopi-American characters for the unproduced animated film On the Trail. This project was highlighted on pages 156, 157, 172, 173, and 175 of the book The Disney That Never Was by Charles Solomon. (Hyperion 1995). Scott traveled to the American Southwest to paint the light and colors of the desert for this film in great detail. Two of these are on 9" x 8" five-peg paper and one is on 7" x 9" trimmed paper. Each is titled with an Native American name, i.e. "Mastop Kachina (Hopi)", "Soyal Kachina (Hopi)", and "Angwusnasomataq 'The One With Crow Tied On' ".
