On the Trail Concept Art Group of 4 (Walt Disney, 1940s). After Bambi, Retta Scott moved into Disney's Story Department. Here we have a series of four original concept art paintings/drawings from the hand of Miss Scott, done for the never-produced animated feature film On the Trail. This project was highlighted on pages 156-157, 172-173, and 175 in the book The Disney That Never Was by Charles Solomon. The story featured an American Indian boy and his burro, who explore the land outside of their pueblo in the Grand Canyon area. Two gouache paintings of two of the films characters are on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. Nice images of 5" and 6". Also included in the lot are two graphite character studies of a young girl, also on 12 field 5-peghole animation paper. All four are by Retta Scott. Minor handling and edge wear. Fine condition. From the Retta Scott Archives.
