    Description

Mr. Bug Goes to Town Smack the Mosquito and Swat the Fly Storyboard/Concept Drawings Original Art Group of 2 (Max Fleischer, 1941). Two rare pieces of original artwork created during the early production of this "lost classic" animated feature. Both feature that madcap pair of would-be bad guys, Smack the Mosquito and Swat the Fly. These are very detailed storyboard drawings of scenes similar to the film, but with some minor differences. The first piece shows Swat and Smack as they watch from the cracked pavement, similar to the scene where they follow Hoppity and Honey Bee to a classy cabaret (as seen around the 18:49 mark), with the notation "Red Light." The second has the boys inside Bagwell's lair, presumably collecting a payment for their services (the bag in Smack's hand). Both are in graphite on 11" x 8.5" 3-hole animation paper; there's added light blue pencil shading to the second drawing. Image sizes are approximately 8.25" x 6", with both loosely mounted together a 13" x 18" black backing board, ready to be displayed. Good to Very Good condition, with some handling wear, tack holes, and a minor fold crease on the first drawing.
