Mike Ploog The Black Cauldron The Horned King Character Design Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1985). Mike Ploog had much success as an artist at Marvel Comics in 1970s (The Monster of Frankenstein and Man-Thing were his biggest hits) and, as a visual designer in the motion picture industry and animation character designer. His artwork helped shape the characters in this movie, especially The Horned King. This is an outstanding Mike Ploog original character design/concept art of The Horned King, standing over the Cauldron as one of his soldiers is about to rise up with sword in hand. Art is in graphite and pastel on light tan paper measuring 18" x 12"; the image takes up 14" x 6.5". The detail to this artwork is stunning. Signed in the bottom right, as Ploog. Minor handling and edge wear, with some toning to the paper (which now appears gray). Very Good condition. From the Joe Hale Collection.
