    Mickey Mouse is the iconic animated character created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1928. He is characterized as a cheerful optimist with an adventurous and mischievous streak. For over 90 years, Mickey has been the cornerstone of all things Disney. His success paved the way for numerous breakthroughs in both the art of animation, and the entertainment industry as a whole. In this lot we have a fantastic original piece of concept book art by Paul Wenzel. Paul is best known for creating illustrations for movie posters and retail merchandise for The Walt Disney Company. Wenzel first began at Disney in 1958, working for the studio for 42 years, creating thousands of illustrations for movies and consumer products. In 2000, Wenzel retired from Disney to pursue his fine art paintings of animals and American Indians. His work is exhibited by the Mountain Spirit Gallery in his hometown of Prescott, Arizona. This original concept piece was rendered using pastel on board. The artwork has a protective acetate covering. The image measures 6" x 8" on a 12.5" x 14.5" board and is signed by the artist. Fine condition.
