Michael Jacksons' Neverland Ranch - "Main Gate" Proposed Theme Park Original 30" x 20" Concept Art by William Stout for Landmark Entertainment (LEG, 1999). This original concept/pitch artwork depicts the main gates envisioned for Michael Jackson's proposed Neverland theme park and was created by Landmark Entertainment Group in the 1990s. Rendered in gouache and watercolor on 30" x 20" illustration board by renowned illustrator William Stout, the piece captures the dramatic, cinematic entry experience Landmark designed for what was intended to be a publicly accessible, Disneyland-style park at Jackson's Santa Ynez Valley estate. In the early-mid 1990s, following successes like Jurassic Park: The Ride and T2:3D for Universal, Landmark became a premier creative studio for large-scale, IP-driven projects. Michael Jackson, already operating a private Neverland Ranch complete with rides and a zoo, approached Gary Goddard and Landmark to develop a master plan for an expanded theme park. Proposed attractions included Mermaid Lagoon, Skull Rock, and Neverland Castle, with Stout's artistry helping to visualize the whimsical, larger-than-life scope of the park. Stout, celebrated for his work on the film Heavy Metal, multiple rock album covers, film concept art, and paleontological illustration, brought a richly detailed style that made him an ideal contributor.
