Description

MGM Hotel Effects Show Dragon 17'' Concept Signed by Bob Kurtz (Kurtz & Friends, c. 1980s). We present a beautiful pastel concept of an Eastern-style dragon flying through the air in this lot, signed by award-winning animator and founder of the Kurtz & Friends animation studio, Bob Kurtz. Kurtz has won both the Annie award and Winsor McCay award for lifetime achievement in animation, directing countless animated commercials and theatrical shorts in his career. The enormous concept in this lot was created for a special effects show at the MGM hotel in Las Vegas hotel in the 1980s. The hotel first opened in 1973 as the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and a new version later called the MGM Grand Las Vegas opened in 1993. The dragon was used to plan one of the many spectacular shows there and is sure to have been magnificent. Measuring about 17'' x 7'' on black paper and covered with the protective cel, the expressive concept is displayed in an 18.5'' x 8'' mat window and 22'' x 11.5'' mat. Very Good condition with only light edge and handling wear and faint scuffing on the mat.
