Merbabies Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1938). Merbabies was created as a sequel of sorts to the popular 1935 Silly Symphony Water Babies. This early concept painting shows a scene from the beginning of the short as the little Merbabies begin to materialize and play amongst the rocks and seawater. The artwork is exquisitely painted in watercolor with graphite on arches paper measuring 9.5" x 21.5". Ferdinand Horvath was an art director on this short and this artwork could easily be attributed to him. The paper shows handling and edge wear. It has been folded in the center causing it to split and has been repaired on the back with tape. Condition is Good.
