Description

Mary Blair - Winnie the Pooh Tigger RARE 7" x 6.5" Concept/Development Art Signed by Disney Legend Mary Blair (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). "Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! Let's bounce!" As early as 1938 Walt Disney expressed interest in developing A. A. Milne's Winnie the Pooh stories into animation. Walt Disney Productions would not acquire the film rights for Winnie the Pooh until 1961, yet the studio began development of a potential animated film in the 1940s. This is a rare original from the earliest stage of Walt Disney's Winnie the Pooh filmmaking activity: a lively painting of Tigger in watercolor by none other than the celebrated Disney Legend Mary Blair (1911 - 1978). Hand-signed in full by Mary Blair at lower right. This painting measures 7" x 6.5" on a sheet of 8" x 8" watercolor paper. Created decades before the first Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree featurette released in 1966 - this is an exceedingly rare piece! The painting shows minor handling and edge wear with mild age-toning along the edges. The condition of this remarkable treasure is Very Good.
