Mary Blair The Little House Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1952). "Once upon a time, there was a little house on a little hill way out in the country!" starts this short narrated by Sterling Holloway. Here is an original concept Color Key painting of the Little House from that opening scene painted by the legendary Disney artist Mary Blair (1911 - 1978). This short was inspired by the award-winning 1942 children's book by Virginia Lee Burton and the screenplay was developed by Bill Peet. It was directed by Wilfred Jackson and animated by Marc Davis, Les Clark, and Clair Weeks. This short retained Blair's concept art style, more than any other Disney film and a nearly identical image of this painting opens the story. It is painted in gouache on illustration board and bears a double signature both on the painting and the border. As an added bonus, the original mat is held in a sleeve on the back of the frame that bears a third signature and title The Little House in Ms. Blair's handwriting. It's a magnificent painting that showcases Mary Blair's exceptional style and use of color. The art is framed under glass with a mat opening of 10" x 8" in a 17" x 14.5" frame. Very Good condition. Frame is sold as-is.
