    Description

Mary Blair - The Adventures of Ichabod Crane and Mr. Toad Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1949). In the Taschen book, The Walt Disney Film Archives: The Animated Movies 1921 - 1968, Brian Sibley wrote in an article on this film called "Two Fabulous Characters: With clouds closing around the moon like giant hands, rattling swirls of autumn leaves, gnarled trees looming out of the shadows. These effects were married to an ingenious soundtrack of crickets chirping 'Ichabod, Ichabod,' frogs croaked 'Headless Horseman,' and crows screaming 'beware, beware' as they fly off." The trees portrayed this original concept/Color Key painting by Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) actually made it to screen in the final background design. The nighttime full moon color palette cast in this painting is simply amazing. This outstanding gouache on board painting is in a frame of 28" x 17" with a mat opening of 17" x 6". The art shows light handling and condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
