    Description

Mary Blair Susie the Little Blue Coupe Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1952). "The minute she stepped out on the main drag, she found herself in pretty fast company. But she had a lot of pep and pick up, and she seemed to learn her way around!" Before the Disney/Pixar megahit franchise Cars, there was Susie the Little Blue Coup. Directed by Clyde Geronimi, with a story written by Bill Peet, narration by Sterling Holloway, and even Ollie Johnston in a rare role animating a short. Mary Blair was Art Director on this cartoon, and you can see her color and style throughout this adorable theatrical short. This is a Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) original concept/Color Key painting of a happy Susie driving with the bigger cars in the city. It's an unusually larger Blair piece, in gouache on illustration board measuring 19" x 8.5". Nice image of Susie, measuring 4.5". Tack holes in all four corners with minor handling and edge wear. In Very Good condition.
