Mary Blair Peter Pan Original Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1953). "The Mermaids were quite fond of Peter. Wendy tried to make friends with them, but they did not like her. Perhaps because she did not have a tail." Mary Blair's Peter Pan mermaid concept artwork was used to illustrate the children's book Walt Disney's Peter Pan (2009) by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. Her mermaids were also used on the cover of the book. She experimented with different color palettes for the mermaids. This may have been to showcase different personality traits or moods. This is an outstanding concept/Color Key painting of the mermaids done in the distinctive style that can only be Mary Blair (1911 - 1978). WOW! Great oversized painting showcasing the Never Land Mermaid Lagoon, complete with a waterfall under a full moon night. Gouache on a large size board of 15.5" x 13.5". Pinholes in corners and minor handling and edge wear, overall Very Good condition. Mary Blair's mermaids are beloved by her fans. You can almost hear them calling Peterrrrrrr!
