Mary Blair Peter Pan Neverland Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1953) "We're following the leader, the leader, the leader, we're following the leader wherever he may go!" This is an original early concept painting of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, leading the Lost Boys, along with Wendy and John through the jungles of Neverland. In the film's final version, Peter Pan takes off with Wendy to look at the Mermaids, and John leads the Lost Boys and Michael. A similar painting can be seen on pages 23 and 24 in the book Walt Disney's Peter Pan Pictures by Mary Blair, retold by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. It's a magnificent gouache painting on 19" x 9" board of nine characters set against lush Neverland foliage with the sun peaking through. The bright light showcasing Tinker Bell is a brilliant touch. Minor handling and pinholes on corners. Condition is Very Good.
