Mary Blair Peter Pan Indian Village at Night Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1953). "Peter Pan... Mighty Warrior! Saved Tiger Lily... make Big Chief heap happy... make Peter Pan heap Big Chief! You now Chief Flying Eagle!" says Tiger Lily's father, the Indian Chief. This is as Peter Pan comes to the Indian village to save the Lost Boys, along with John and Michael. John Canemaker writes in his book The Art and Flair of Mary Blair - An Appreciation, "For her final film, Peter Pan, Blair's inexhaustible well of creativity continued gushing forth. An impressive component of Blair's concepts for Peter Pan's world of pixies, pirates, and Lost Boys is her mastery of mood through dramatic lighting." This is an outstanding Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) original concept/Color Key painting of the meeting of Peter with the Indian Chief and Tiger Lily. Great explosion of color in this Mary Blair masterpiece of a painting! Gouache on illustration board measuring 19" x 8.5". Tack holes corners and minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
