Mary Blair Peter Pan "Jolly Roger" Ship Concept/Color Key Painting (Walt Disney, 1953). In the book, The Art and Flair of Mary Blair: An Appreciation by John Canemaker, he writes "For Peter Pan, her final feature, Blair's inexhaustible well of creativity continued gushing forth. An impressive component of Blair's concepts for Peter Pan's world of pixies, pirates and lost boys is her mastery of mood through dramatic lighting." This is a simply stunning original concept painting of Captain Hook's pirate ship "The Jolly Roger" by Mary Blair (1911 - 1978). Painted in gouache on light paper-board, this amazing image measures a staggering 8" x 7". It may be the most significant Blair painting of the "The Jolly Roger" we have ever seen. The art is in a frame of 19.5" x 20" with a mat opening of 10" x 8". The art shows light handling and condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
