Mary Blair Penelope and the 12 Months Concept Painting (Walt Disney, c. 1940s). The first draft of Penelope and the 12 Months was originally written by Joe Grant and Dick Huemer. They began with a poem, then expanded it into a story about a small girl who travels through time with the help of a magical grandfather clock. This initial concept art was created prior to World War II; the story was re-worked after the war. This rare concept art painting of Penelope represents Mary Blair's very first work done at the Walt Disney Studios. It's in tempera and watercolor on paper. The art is matted with an opening of 7" x 7", and framed with Plexiglas. This is a very important historical piece in the career of Mary Blair. Fine condition.
