Mary Blair Melody Time "Once Upon a Wintertime" Concept Art (Walt Disney, 1948). "The snow came tumbling down from the sky. An east wind was blowing as people passed by. Yet I felt as happy as I did in July... Once Upon a Wintertime." These are the lyrics to the song as Joe and Jenny begin their horse-drawn sleigh ride on their way to go skating. When they come to the covered bridge on their ride, we see many people skating on the pond. This comes at the :37 mark into the song. It is said that the "Once Upon a Wintertime" section of this animated feature film is the one that most closely resembles Mary Blair's stylized designs. She did this film's Color and Styling along with Claude Coats and Dick Kelsey. This is an outstanding piece of original Mary Blair pastel concept art of the ice skaters by the bridge. The colors are amazing! Four sets of skaters are shown on brown paper measuring 11" x 10". Classic Blair art, with figure sizes of 1" all the way up to 7". Paper is mounted to a new backing board. Small tape on top border, Minor handling wear. In Very Good condition.
