Mary Blair "It's a Small World" Mexico Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1964/66). "It's a world of laughter, a world of tears. It's world of hope, and a world of fears!" One of Walt Disney's last television appearances was on Wonderful World of Color in June of 1966 and on that episode titled "Disneyland and the Seasons" he gave viewers a sneak-peak at the new attractions opening at the park. One of those was "It's a Small World" which had had a successful debut at the 1964 New York World's Fair. Afterward the ride was taken to California and refitted as an attraction at Disneyland. This is an original Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) concept painting of the children of Mexico and Central America. Images of children, ancient ruins, tropical birds, colorful foliage are all set under a full moon and painted in the distinctive Mary Blair style. It is rendered in gouache on 12" x 11" board which is in a 23" x 21" frame. There are pinholes in the corners, minor edge wear; otherwise, condition Very Good. Frame is sold as is.
