Mary Blair "It's a Small World" Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1964/66). "It's a world of laughter, a world of tears, It's a world of hopes and a world of fears. There's so much that we share that it's time we're aware it's a small world after all!" The unforgettable "It's a Small World" exhibit originally opened at the 1964 World's Fair in New York City at the UNICEF Pavilion, sponsored by Pepsi. When the attraction moved to Disneyland in 1966, Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) created additional designs and concepts, and the success of the ride made it an essential attraction at virtually every Disney theme park around the globe. Presented is an undeniably charming original concept painting created for the Dutch section of the ride which retained this color palette of soft blues and yellows with pink accents. It would adopt the ever-memorable hot air balloons in the same colors. An exceptionally large Mary Blair piece, this lovely work of art is rendered in graphite and gouache on 17" x 9" illustration board. The piece shows minor handling and edge wear with pinholes in each corner. The condition is Very Good.
