Mary Blair "It's a Small World" Arctic Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1964/66). "There's so much that we share, that its time we're aware, It's a small world after all!" This iconic Disney theme park attraction was originally created for the Pepsi Pavilion at the 1964 New York World's Fair. Its development was personally overseen by Walt Disney and was created to benefit the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The ride was a hit and after the fair ended, it was shipped to Disneyland, where it reopened on May 28, 1966. "It's a Small World" features over 300 animatronic children in traditional costumes from cultures around the world, frolicking in a spirit of international unity, and singing the attraction's title song. According to, the Sherman Brothers song, is the most publicly performed song of all time. This is an original concept painting of the people in the Arctic region along with seals and a blue whale by Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) and the blue color palette of this 14" x 12" gouache painting certainly conveys a chilly environment. The painting is in a 24" x 21" frame with a mat opening of 14" x 12". The art has pinholes in the corners; otherwise, condition is Very Good. Frame is sold as-is.
