Mary Blair "It's a Small World" Africa Concept Painting (Walt Disney, 1964/66). "It's a small world after all, no matter if you're big or small...." Mary Blair's work on this attraction had one feeling as if they were sailing through an illustrated children's book. She had entered this phase of her career after working on the Little Golden children's books series. Giraffes were an important part of her vision for this ride. At one point they emerge from an arch through which the "It's a Small World" boat floats through. This is an outstanding Mary Blair (1911 - 1978) original Small World concept painting of a colorful giraffe, hippo and children of Africa. Painted in gouache on a pan-size board measuring 17.5" x 9". Stunning Mary Blair original, matted with an opening of 10" x 18" and framed with glass for an overall size of 20" x 28". Frame is sold as-is. Art has pinholes in corners and slight handling/edge wear. Overall condition is Very Good. The sheer combination of color in this original Mary Blair painting is fantastic!
